Global Warming Remedy and Prevention: Educating, Counseling and Healing with Nature Online.

Organics work! Organics thoughtfully help us sustain the well-being of ourselves and of nature.

Organic Psychology works. It helps our senses thoughtfully locate and embrace the grace, balance and restorative ways of natural systems within and about us. These sensory connections energetically suppor us. This power helps us reduce the apathy and denial fears that prevent us from actively engaging in correcting our disorders, including global warming.

Learn to use and teach Organic Psychology. Help recycle and transform our destructive relationships with self, society and nature. Benefit from practical, accredited career education and training in Applied Ecopsychology.

Add the sunlight of nature's purifying and regenerative powers to your personal and professional life. Receive academic or professional credit for your life experiences; increase their value.

Climate Change, its Cause, Effects and Solution:

A report from an online course participant

"This short practicum in Psychological Elements of Global Citizenship helped me discover why each of us is in denial about who we really are personally and globally and how to deal with our shortcomings.

We must stop denying that our industrial socialization process has taught us to live a very destructive lie. That we base our thinking and lives on this grossly inaccurate fact is the heart of global warming as well as most of our other great troubles.

Fortunately the misrepresentation we live by is easily remedied once we face facts and come out of our denial.

Here's what's misleading most of us: we learn, teach and believe that we live on the surface of Planet Earth. But that fact is false. We don't. We live in our planet, not on it. We live at least ten miles deep in the natural systems of its biosphere, its life-force that includes the atmosphere and sunlight. We live in the Earth. That is an organic truth of our lives. We are not detached from the biosphere, we are a working part of it.

The biosphere consists of energy-flow connections to every part of Earth. It extends far above our heads, it surrounds us and goes miles deep underground beneath us.

GLOBAL TEMPERATURE: As the sun has over the eons become too hot for life on Earth, the planets that surround us have become hotter, too. Earth's temperature, however, has remained livable. This "miracle" of homeostasis happens because the biosphere edits the rays from the sun. The sensitivities of the biosphere "consciously" sustain atmospheric gas levels, -such as Carbon Dioxide and Ozone- to assist the survival of pristine life and diversity on Earth. The proper temperature of our global home supports life as we know it. This is not simply an accident or coincidence. Regulating Earth's temperature is a function of life on earth. Homeostasis is a way that life helps itself survive.

The life-giving nature of the biosphere includes its self-balancing optimums of sunlight, air and water, plants animals and minerals, energies and attractions to survive and grow (its life-spirit). Moment by moment, through its natural systems, the biosphere streams into and through us and all of life. We organically share every aspect of our lives with the biosphere. This includes sharing our senses with it. For example, the sense of thirst is part of the water cycle; the life-spirit we sense on a beautiful day is part of that day.

Most sciences recognize that the biosphere flows through Earth's plant animal and mineral community. Scientists have measured, through radioactive labeling, that every 5-7 years molecules from natural systems in the biosphere replace every molecule in our mind and body. These replacement molecules become us, we, in turn, become the planet. The molecules of water we drink today may have once been the ice of a glacier, the steam of a volcano or the blood of a dinosaur or Jesus or Thomas Jefferson.

The biosphere acts like the womb of Mother Earth. It is as if Earth is our other body. Our planet contains the biology and sensitivity features that nurture our human mother, her womb and the food she provides for us as children. These same features nurture our adult life and all the rest of life, too.

Obviously we and our Earth Mother are related. We are kin. As sensory beings our human mind body and spirit are born with the need and ability to feelingly register natural love, joy and support for our planet-mother, for our kinship. That feeling is a natural part of our integrity and wholeness. For example, we and nature are so close that most people cannot accurately describe where nature stops and they begin. We and nature in some way share the same self-esteem and self-worth. We hurt (and often cover it up) when we injure Mother Earth and vice versa.

We and nature/earth are identical except for one easily recognized difference. In industrial society we learn to think differently than the way nature works. Our excessively nature-separated lives and "as if" stories socialize us to disconnect our conscious mind from nature's loving ability to produce its life-supportive non-polluting perfection.

Our nature-disconnected thinking makes us lose our reasonable sensory contact with our nurturance from our natural global family. This loss pains and frightens us. It creates emotional stress, death and deprivation in our psyche. We end up wanting, and when we want there is never enough...until those moments when we genuinely reconnect our thinking and senses to their renewing origins in natural systems. Then we experience our special natural fulfillment and our stress subsides.

Our thinking is our destiny. Its separation from nature strips it of the self-correcting, grace balance and restorative powers of Earth's natural systems. This profound mental deficit makes our thinking dissatisfied and dysfunctional. It explains why the way we think produces the hurt and sickness we typically find in our society, but is seldom found in nature-centered people(s).

It is our dysfunctional, nature-disconnected thinking and consciousness that give Mother Earth the fever that we call "global warming." It causes us to war against natural systems rather than respect, embrace and support them. The results are so painful and stupid that we are in denial of this bizarre disconnection in our mentality. In turn, we deny the value of a readily available nature-creonnecting sensory process that enables us to remedy this disorder.

This Organic Psychology course I am taking online works for me because it helps me create moments that let Earth teach. It helps me permit Earth, through my senses and rationality, to attract my thinking out of its denial and into mutually supportive attraction relationships with natural systems around and within me. At will, I thoughtfully connect with, feel and benefit from nature's healing ways. In deep respect I have discovered that I innately love our planet and, like anybody else, I vigorously protect what I love.

As my classmates demonstrate, this online course has done the same thing for them. They say:

'I was looking for a program that would augment my own study of how we can find a sense of "home" again in the world, in nature. The astonishing simplicity of the activities helped me so that although I have been spending time in nature for years, I was often spending that time with nature as a lovely backdrop. I was not spending moments in connection.

It is easy to stroll through a forest and never see it. I won't do that again! I am trying to use natural attractions in developing my personal relationships. For instance, in my relationship with my fiance, I am now looking more for sensations of what is naturally attractive and right than at what is difficult. It makes for much more peace and harmony in the relationship, and overall satisfaction. This course truly helped me to remember myself as a part of nature, and feel a new sense of Home in the world."

'This online nature-sensitivity program has helped me to trust that my desire to reconnect with nature is a legitimate desire. I've often felt that my love affair with nature was simply the result of an overly romantic idea of what nature is and a desire to escape the reality of the daily world I live in. Through the exercises and the discussions, I've come to learn that my desire is not to run away from anything but rather to go towards something that is so fundamental I wonder how people survive without it.'

-Allison B.

'I liked the expansion of "knowable" senses to 53!! I was stretched in aspects of structure and verbalization, but this is a place where I need to be stretched. The most important thing I learned is that to experience the natural attractions that call me in this moment is what is real and what I can trully trust. I daily seek and gain permission to be in a place of unity with natural systems in the environment and in the people with whom I come in contact . Now there are fewer "What If's" lurkng in the recesses of my mind. More clarity exists in my relating to nature (people are included in Nature). The course is invaluable!! It heals or mends eons of disconnectedness on a primal level. And it does so by simply opening each of us to what we already posess; natural attractions, buried by a sadly malaigned society.'

-Thomas C.

'As a Psychiatrist I've done hypnosis and other techniques and I have not seen such a deeply unconscious state brought to the surface before. The problem of humanity's interconnection goes further than appreciation of nature. This course's organic application of ecopsychology is based on the knowledge that we are part of the cumulative experience of the living world and the universe, and to everything that is. We are in dire need for contact with each other and with other living things. There is a very strong scientific and philosophical basis for this, but talking about it is not going to re-establish this connection. Our ability to cognitively abstract our contact with the world constantly takes our sensory experience and hides it under a veil of thought. The resulting loss of connection is, I think, the greatest ill that plagues humankind. It is the cause of many problems in the individual and society. It is important that these nature reconnecting methods not be lost to the wider needs that they can serve.'"

“Scientific research is based on the idea that everything that takes place is determined by laws of nature, and therefore this holds for the action of people.

Our task must be to free ourselves from our prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”

                                    - Albert Einstein

"Human behavior is rooted most deeply in nature's intentions and desire. The rhythms of nature underlie all of human interaction: religious traditions, economic systems, cultural and political organization. When these human forms betray the natural psychic pulse, people and societies get sick, nature is exploited and entire species are threatened."

-Stephen Aizenstat

In industrial society our excessively nature-separated lives mold us to betray the natural psychic pulse. We learn to block from our thinking over 95 percent of the wise sensory callings and fulfillments we normally receive from natural systems and their eons. Our hurt and frustration from the severed disconnection of these senses underlies our greatest troubles.

-Michael J. Cohen
