Natural Grace and Sunny Iris Intelligence
A Course Participant's Report:
"Wandering through the garden to fetch the hummingbird feeders, I was stopped by the sight of a cream and yellow bearded iris, outlined in the lowering sunlight. It is the last of the tall iris and since it attracted me so strongly, I approached and asked permission to be with it. I felt peaceful and happy so I came close and as it swayed in the breeze, I dipped to it and drank in the perfume of a warm iris which is sweet and piquant at the same time. Immediately the word grace came to mind, full of grace, and I regarded it further trying to decide what I appreciated about its gracefulness. Again the word came to mind, grace. Not the word graceful, which it also undeniably is, but just simply the word grace.
That was so stunning to me since I had read the entire chapter before leaving the house so I was aware that this word would also be applied to myself. That gave me pause and there was a moment of doubt that I did the activity correctly...hmmmm, grace. I find that doubly interesting since it is my middle name after my maternal grandmother. Standing there, I had to accept the wisdom of nature and trust that It was truly intended to be just that...grace. I am full of grace.I found this activity enhanced my sense of self worth and trust of nature. for I had to trust in nature to be correct, and not rely on my thinking or denial of who I am or what attributes are present. Suspending logic invites wisdom from a different source outside ourselves. I am part of nature's flow. I love this Iris because it is full of grace; I love myself because I am full of grace. Nature and its intelligence is waiting for me to listen with my heart and not my head.
This activity demonstrates once again that nature contacts provide the kind of focus that yields tremendous insight. I have developed a reverence for seeing connections with nature as a time for flexibility, and not the tightening up that is so often a response. I picked up on Charlie's email comment that "When we connect to our consciousness of sensory attractions in nature we feel our ability to love to its roots" This really touched me because it rings so true. I am reminded of my many lonely solo journeys when taking off, but on the return know that I have received love and given love."
