A Course Participant's Report:
Being a therapist myself, this nature activity allowed me to further parallel human movement and sense how I can better be in the moment with others by observing the body language and movement of living things around me....to ultimately dance with life in people and places. I also liked the grouping here of the old brain and new brain for analyzing behavior and feelings- it brought me much peace. It helped me break down my own being - mental mayhem - and understand others more.
I slid with the slide of loose pebbles and chunky rocks in a sweep of sediment down the steep embankment. I was at the brink - and I stopped to silently communicate - to ask for permission - to communicate intention - express desire .. I closed my eyes and they focused in on one cedar bow waving me in - I felt a rush of energy move up from my feet so I entered with a bow of grace and gratitude. I moved with the river - as the river flowed - through - around - in - beyond - under - meeting with many - so did my being - captured by all and seduced by the texture and touch of sweet mud on the skin - sink in. Before leaving I laid on my belly I wanted to physically connect on the raised river bank - moving the top layer with my pinky I exposed the black naked soil and connected with two almost transparent 'worms'. I watched them move - they reinforced something incredible. I watched the flexibility of their form - they didn't seem to tap dance to a specific beat - they moved freely - spiraling - returning - free forms - over large leaves - behind - under - just continual movement. No success - no failure - no right - no wrong - no time lined destination - no mental calculation - just be - move - movement - free. My stomach smiled and the energy filled me full.
Just a few hours later I found myself in a park to read the remaining material for this chapter and I went to go sit beside the water but it wasn't attractive to me as the cool air was chilling - I found shelter and sunlight beside a grandfather oak - I laid out my blanket and again introduced myself and silently communicated my desire and intent . Permission was granted in a sudden rustling wind dance of a fallen leaf - my book pages waved and than out of the corner of my eye I connected with the crow. My eyes were ground level once more and I watched an incredible dance - each blade of grass dancing - the leaves twirling - everything moving together - with pure purpose of being. I wondered how the soil beneath felt with the massage and joy of the grass - I could feel the sun smiling from above. Thank you came in smiling spits of applause. My projections. Ah what can I say for myself I wake up dancing - bare naked being of no minds.
