Certified Master Practioner (CMP)

An Alternative NSTP Training Path at Project NatureConnect.

An alternative Ph.D. or MS training program option to becoming a Certified Master Practioner for Natural Systems Thinking Process Applied Ecopsychology" (CP) is available starting mid-October 2004. The program gives students a new personal expertise training opportunity to walk the path leading to Certification and/or a Master's or Ph.D. degree.

The CMP program attempts to make personal and professional growth the main focus of the coursework and make the academics optional until they are needed for the degree program. Course papers will be integration papers of any length making coursework more functional in that it need only optionally be academic/scholarly. Learning what was trustable and useful from the course experience would become the main rationale for the paper..

The program centers around the phenomenol success many student's have had with building on, applying and mentoring the core concept of the Orientation Course and "nine leg" thinking and relating.

In the CMP program, the core, "The Fortressed Empty Room" in the Orientation Course (described below,) becomes the core of the student's entire program. All papers center on the student's experiences in building and mentoring the room's existance in themselves and others, and it need only be supported by them as phenomena/experiences from the courses and elsewhere. Academic support is encouraged, but optional until such time as the core paper is used towards an academic degree.

A core paper that starts with the program Application Form describes the how, where, what, why and when of building and protecting the "Room." When students decide they want a degree, they, at that time further combine and organize in logical fashion what is in the Room including all their coursework, mentoring experiences and papers from them, and make it into a rational integration paper/book of 75 pages or more that might be entitled something like: "The Evolution of a Certified Master Practioner for Natural Systems Thinking Process Applied Ecopsychology." The paper/book would show how the student has identified and gained the mentored information, qualities and expertise in the fortressed room needed to use and teach NSTP. It would include scholarly documentation that could be collected from the day the student starts the program.

This paper can be used to support equivalent education for an MS degree waiver

It can, with guidance, be applied as an M.S. or Ph.D, project in lieu of thesis or dissertation.

On a Master's level, this final paper/book plus taking a comprehensive exam can gain a student entrance into the the Degree program at Akamai University or other cooperating universities.

The paper/book can be slightly enhanced to be the Master's thesis.

The MS thesis will only be an option, not required.

A paper showing how a student has already taken a non-core course will replace the need to take that course.

Summary

The CMP program consists of taking the certification courses (http://www.ecopsych.com/ecocertificate2.html) and creating a paper/book that helps others understand the coursework, mentoring and experiences you have had that qualify you for your certification level or degree.

The Updated "Protected Room" Core Concept:

"Open up a new, fortressed, empty room somewhere in your mentality; maybe in the place you daydream on the screen of consciousness that plays in your mind. Into that uncontaminated space carefully place the most reasonable experiences, thoughts and feelings (phenomena) and concepts that the course program and its participants help you discover. The means to integrate what you place in the room into some part of society is also placed in the room. Consciously placing this information there often makes the room a 9-leg (whole ways) of knowing.

The things you place in yout fortressed room remain intact and strong for your use at will. When you need them, simply open the door to the room and avail yourself of the attractive, reasonable integrity it will contain because you mentored and preserved it. Otherwise, like the environment, that integrity becomes polluted by the nature-disconnected way of life and thinking that fuels so many of our problems.

In time, you will begin to notice that
nine leg words are written on the door to the room. They say: "The Natural Systems Thinking Process: in nature within and about us, natural attractions are real, intelligent, healing, and conscious of themselves and other attractions."
