Reconnecting With Nature
Metaphysical Reviews, 1997
"If the higher purpose of literature is to provoke thought...then Michael J. Cohen has written a masterpiece!
Reconnecting With Nature is as provocative a book as this reviewer has seen. It is about awareness. and enlightenment and enablement. A brilliant book for all seeking renewal in our relationships with our environment and our selves!
Cohen makes us aware of our situation in a bold, forthright yet compassionate fashion. He then shows us that the circumstance is not only solvable...it is do-able. Then he gives us simple, practical, natural sensory solutions to enable us to find our way back to the loves, truths and integrity that some of our Native American forebears lived, daily.
Reconnecting With Nature is a waker-upper! Michael J. Cohen has sounded the alarm, defined the problem and given us the tools to put out the fire."

This page offers valuable rewards to individuals who recognize four basics of Organic Psychology:
1. We are part of nature and it sustains the global life community without producing our garbage, disorders or abusiveness.
2. Natural systems pervade nature and are self-correcting. They recycle, purify and nurture wherever they flow.
3. We excessively suffer our disorders because we don't connect with nature's grace, balance and restorative powers to help us remedy our troubles.
4. We spend, on average, 98 percent of our life indoors, separated from nature. To our loss, our thinking and feeling are extremely disconnected from nature's healing ways.
PARTS OF THE GREATER ONE THAT IS US ALL
An Organic Psychology Metaphysical Report from an Online Course Participant
Following the suggested metaphysics in nature assignment for this chapter, I went outside and requested acceptance into the area, and thanked Sun for illuminating the area and my mind, body, and spirit. Through my eyesight I was aware of all the light and shadow playing on the luminescent sparkling snow and reflective and refracting color and light from crystal form, the invisible hand of the wind upon the branches swaying them and the clouds above also coaxed by the same invisible mover. The shapes and colors around me varying shades of gray and white, brown and blue, even a few bronze leaves still holding to their branches and swaying to the soundless tune that is also wind and the ability to see depth in cloud formation and and a way for me to move in order not to disrupt or harm and the incredible dazzling beauty of life illuminated in bright white and streams of golden light.
Shutting my eyes and turning and turning and turning and the spiraling of light and dark spinning in the darkness of my mind and the value in the shadow is always that of appreciation turning inward and the moist realm of womb and woman and sheltered from too brash a light and one that can parch and burn and be too overwhelming at times, and the place where nurturing and resting can occur, and the blessing of being held in such a fecund place.
Oh and the clouds and how they do bless us with momentary lapses of shade and bringing a different hue to the world for moments and allowing discernment and contrast from one constant light and the varying hues of filter and the lavenders and apricots and the crimsons and pinks and blues and grays and whites and shapes and sizes and depths and feathered patterns. They bring glory and beauty to all the wonders of the light and refracting hues and prisiming colors and breaking light into streams of golden glory that pierce the psyche with their golden rods that illuminate like a spot light the beauty of small places otherwise unnoticed in the vastness of horizon and the clouds. Oh the beauty of the clouds that rain upon the earth and between the light of Sun and the wet of clouds and it is like sperm and semen falling to bring life to the womb of earth and stirring the eternal elixir together bringing balance of both, that when drunken in by all of the earth and stirs creation and out of its union. We are all here, born of it and from it and to it and love it and the balance of sky, sun, earth and masculine and feminine together are oneness and creative force brought to fruition. Thanking the clouds for their part and all together thanking it all and encompassing the all that is and that brings such love and beauty forth.
The warmth and feel of light upon skin and feeling, sensing, penetrating muscle and tendon, bone and brain and striking with force inside and releasing the chemicals that bring joy and and smiles to faces and yes and there is delight and and sensing of the light and that too penetrates my flesh and stirs me awake and alive and and filled with joy.
Little bits of night living in my shadow and creeping, creeping on silent feet and sheltering each snow flake from its melting for yet a little while longer while I stand over them still and moving and a child looking up at me and .her eyes shaded from the light she can see me more clearly and the molds that grow too love my shadowy little bits of night and and oh the sense of self is reminded of my own form and impact on all around me and places I haven't touched yet skin to skin and yet my shadow reaches beyond my visceral form to touch and create momentary nights for all to revel in rest and repose until the next movement leaves them once again exposed.
In my shadow there is refuge and the womb of darkness for repose and regeneration and rest and my femininity casts itself upon the ground or tree trunk and on stone or bird or stream and just for some what they ask and need and others and find it filled with dread and run and like the eclipse before understanding was an omen of something evil. aI too could be so construed and yet balance light and dark and keep it all in order.
Darkness doesn t mean its evil and it is fecund and gives room to rest and grow and but unless it is occasionally pierced with light and rain and to feed it and ..all is barren and desolate and dark and fallow and they reach toward the light and toward the soaking rain and they require the nurture and the nature of balance that is held sway by unforgiving shadow that never ends that of human ignorance and wrangling stories into such a forcefully locked cage and nature holds the key and the light and rain can rust the bars and they crumble when balance is restored.
In times of moral, physical, mental, spiritual metaphysical crisis and the intensity of illuminated senses could be too much and fracture the frail fibers of the mind or the body and so sometimes and dancing in the darkness saves us from demise.
What in darkness does grow and the passion of oneness embraced in the dark and the unfurling of sleep that rests us for our works and mushrooms and moonlight and fungus and raccoons and the cat hunts and owls too and the deer hiding from the predators of day and feast in the fields laden with dew and fresh food for them and mosquitoes chase us off to bed as a feeding frenzy will ensue and and bats like the mosquitoes so and they will feed then too. A whole other world ignites at dark and sparked to life by moonlight and starlight and not by our Sun and yet all that exists would not if Sun never shined and oh how I love to dance in the meadow moonlit at night with fireflies and crickets for my friends and one to play the music and one to float about me and dazzling too the shadow I cast by the light of the moon.
One cannot exist in pure sun or in pure dark. Sun still shines at night by proxy reflected on the surface of Moon and and millions of Suns shine their ancient lights down upon our distant earth and galaxies and eons past and perhaps from distant universes too and there is no dichotomy here and there is no duality and night and day are simply one, parts of the greater one that is us all.

"Human behavior is rooted most deeply in nature's intentions and desire. The rhythms of nature underlie all of human interaction: religious traditions, economic systems, cultural and political organization. When these human forms betray the natural psychic pulse, people and societies get sick, nature is exploited and entire species are threatened."
In industrial society our excessively nature-separated lives mold us to betray the natural psychic pulse. We learn to block from our thinking over 98 percent of the wise sensory callings and fulfillments we normally receive from natural systems and their eons of experience. Our subconscious hurt and frustration from the severed disconnection of these senses underlies our greatest troubles.
