Field Report: an on line program participant, shares her results from a nature-connecting activity.

THE EXPERIENCE AND ENVIRONMENT WERE PULLING AT MY HEART.

I went out again when the rain stopped. But I found that I was very tired. My legs felt heavy, unwilling to move. I felt fatigued. Instead of walking I stopped and closed my eyes. The moist air was cool on my face. The air was full of the songs of cicadas and the rush of water in the small stream, swollen from recent rains. I understood that at this moment I could not do much more than stand like this for a short while. I felt the tiredness in my bones, yet I was grateful for the freshness and aliveness of the world surrounding me. I realized that my feeling was itself an intelligence. My body was telling me, not today, you are too tired, take it easy, don't push too hard, go and take a nap. My sense of fatigue was playing the intelligent role of adviser and protector, holding me back from straining myself to meet a situation for which my energy level was insufficient. However, the area energized me to feel OK about making contact with it

My first connection was with some green leaves of a small plant and I felt an immediate impact of feeling good. This was before I could ask for permission. I then asked permission of the plant and leaves and the surroundings. I stayed with the leaves and continued to feel connection with the green leaves, then with the green leaves and some pinkish flowers, then with the whole plant as a whole. Then there was a slight swaying of the plants and leaves from a slight breeze. I felt connection with the movement, with the gracefulness of the movement, with the beauty of the whole. I stayed with it for a while, and continued to feel connectedness.

I then looked out further and connected with 4 tall palm trees. I felt connected with their stateliness, felt connected with the feeling of the trees as sentinels and the sense of security I received. I felt connection with this sense of connection and sense of security, then strength, then consolation, then peace, then dependence, then wholeness, then sense of goodness. Quiet stateliness and strength.

I then noticed the movement of the small leaves of another tree just next to the four tall palms. I felt connected with these leaves, their swaying, the breeze, the gracefulness.

I then felt the energy within and around the trees and plants. I felt connection with the energy as being within and around. I felt life, I felt oneness, I felt wholeness. I felt gratitude. I felt comfort, peace and wholeness within.

I felt a deeper sense of worth and connected with this sense and stayed with it for a while in the sense of just feeling it and staying with it but also feeling connected with the surroundings as a whole at the same time.

I discovered that just staying with connections and the impact of these connections brings feelings of wellness. Maintaining a sense of connection throughout heightened the awareness of the various connections, deepened the feelings of connection and gave a sense of worth and the importance of such connecting.

Stillness and movement, I see, are equally important and give a deep sense of mystery in a multi-faceted way, a oneness in plurality with a sense of deeper meaning and latency behind and within and as a whole. Such a sense of connection and subsequent feelings and appreciation give rise to a sense of gratitude or a sense of tendency towards feeling a sense of gratitude. It is also like the experience and the environment as whole were pulling at my heart, stimulating, eliciting and drawing out this feeling or movement towards giving thanks. It also helped me recover, temporarily, from my tiredness and later take a nap.

"Human behavior is rooted most deeply in nature's intentions and desire. The rhythms of nature underlie all of human interaction: religious traditions, economic systems, cultural and political organization. When these human forms betray the natural psychic pulse, people and societies get sick, nature is exploited and entire species are threatened."

-Stephen Aizenstat

In industrial society our excessively nature-separated lives mold us to betray the natural psychic pulse. We learn to block from our thinking over 98 percent of the wise sensory callings and fulfillments we normally share with natural systems and their eons of experience. Our subconscious hurt and frustration from the severed disconnection of these senses underlies our greatest troubles.

-Michael J. Cohen

Benefit from learning to enhance the natural psychic pulse within and around us. Add the sensory ecoscience of Organic Psychology to your life and livelihood.
