NOTE:

This page offers valuable rewards to individuals who recognize four basics of Organic Psychology:

1. We are part of nature and it sustains the global life community without producing our garbage, disorders or abusiveness.

2. Natural systems pervade nature and are self-correcting. They recycle, purify and nurture where ever they flow.

3. We excessively suffer our disorders because we don't connect with nature's grace, balance and restorative powers to help us remedy our troubles.

4. We spend, on average, 98 percent of our life indoors, separated from nature. To our loss, our thinking and feeling are extremely disconnected from nature's healing ways.

ABANDONED BY THE GOOD IN NATURAL COMMUNITY

An Organic Psychology Report from an Online Course Participant

While in this natural area that attracted me, contemplating what a plant, animal or person might experience that was out of balance and taking over this area brought many thoughts and feeling to mind

I sensed a need to proliferate my species as I had no foundation or familiarity with the area and thus like a fish out of water I floundered around helplessly. To feel comfortable again I had an urge to create more of "me" such that I would be in company of the familiar. It is the typical response to newness or the unfamiliar. You panic and try to build up in number to protect yourself from exposure to change and unfamiliar surroundings.

It seems to me that the environment would be taking offense to me once I commenced in proliferation and wild growth of my species without gaining consent or permission to interact with the new environment. Having someone walking your house and make themselves at home in your sacred spaces is an offense experience. It is extremely rude and no one would tolerate it for any length of time methinks.

Without interaction and permission to act and be, in the new environment/community, I believe that the thinking rational mind would wrangle me to believe that I must take "charge" of the area or perish. More than likely the ostracized "outsider" would take the "take over and assume control" or perish, i.e. fight to the end for control of the new territory. A power struggle would likely ensue. Rather than being polite and asking what I might do to help promote the good of the natural community already in place.

Personally, I think that if I were welcomed and embraced as a viable member of the new environment immediately I would not feel the need to reinforce myself with numbers. I think what I would like better is to be offered a viable and symbiotic role (with guidance to learn this new role) within the new environment such that I could assimilate to it and become at home with it too.

Kind and friendly guidance to assimilate with the existing environment and community would more than likely put and keep me in balance with the new area. I would need to be valued by the new community and assume a symbiotic role within it. If I were given a role that did not have real meaning to me or for the community (a façade) I would become disgruntled in the end and once again return to the "take over" frame of mind. Balance could only manifest with honesty and integrity from both factions in the issue. I would have to assume a role that matched my integrity as well as contributed to the good of the whole or else I would not feel I belonged there.

If I was a person who takes over situations insensitively I might learn that I have a fear of not being in control of myself. I manifest this anomaly of my own psyche by forcing my control on people and situations that I interact with in every part of my life in order to resolve my own insecurities about not being able to control myself or my environment. I am a person who cannot accept doing or behaving in a manner that is new to me or unfamiliar to me. I do not like to be in situations where I am the novice or trainee. I want to be the teacher, leader, advisor, etc. in every aspect of life that I live. For some reason I believe that if I do things the way the others in the group have been doing them then I will not be doing the "right" thing. I think I believe my "comfortable" methods are better than anyone else's "comfortable" methods. I am unwilling to try new things and I am extremely distraught when forced to change old habits and familiar processes or procedures. I do not seem to want to grow or change or explore. Adventure is terrifying to me. I feel like the girl in the closet.

This activity helped me see that regimented people are really very insecure and afraid of being exposed as frauds. Control junkies appear to be individuals harboring some significant issues of personal imbalance; unresolved fear of the unknown may be the cause of a person needing to control or take over when exposed to new environments and communities rather than a true leadership affinity. This is an important discovery because clinging to tradition and familiarity is most likely at the root of all disputes and/or incidents of conflict at every level.

What I discovered is that I am a person who enjoys adventure and exploration of the unknown. I feel very good about my ability to appreciate and value the territory and lifestyles of unfamiliar peoples and places. I appreciate my willingness and zeal to learn new things and I love my wild curiosity, a character trait that I have suppressed for so long. It feels grand to be proud of my manner and approach to life rather than ashamed.

If I lost this part of myself I imagine my self esteem would have been shattered by the events of the previous three years of my life. It seems likely that I would believe the wranglers that tell me I am a failure for attempting to make changes in what seemed like a "good" life; and, most likely wind up an extremely depressed and bitter person at the end of my life.

I believe I have identified some pseudo-authorities in my mind/life; persons that have been empowered by me. The good news is that they can also be dethroned by me. Now that I have seen the reality of these relationships and situations, I can make the appropriate changes for me.

"Human behavior is rooted most deeply in nature's intentions and desire. The rhythms of nature underlie all of human interaction: religious traditions, economic systems, cultural and political organization. When these human forms betray the natural psychic pulse, people and societies get sick, nature is exploited and entire species are threatened."

-Stephen Aizenstat

In industrial society our excessively nature-separated lives mold us to betray the natural psychic pulse. We learn to block from our thinking over 98 percent of the wise sensory callings and fulfillments we normally receive from natural systems and their eons of experience. Our subconscious hurt and frustration from the severed disconnection of these senses underlies our greatest troubles.

-Michael J. Cohen
