ARTICLE: FIELD REPORT: an on line program participant, shares her results from a nature-connecting activity. Happiness is my Authentic Natural Self Having A Peaceful Mind Experience When I'm In My Nature Connected Human Body: Who I Am Rather than Who Am I. Overall, here with the wind, sweet smell of Memosa blossums, various bird song and calls, evening sunlight and shadows, I feel a whole sense of belonging (that words cannot describe) but self-evident sensory experience fulfills unconditionally. This is reassurance and acceptance unlike any in civilized culture that surrounds me. This, too, is within each person, once honored and valued within them by themselves and others. I become who I am rather than who am I. I would also like to share, in addition to my experiences now, part of the experience I had with this activity the first time taking this course. The following is that synthesis: "At this moment, in this natural area and after reading these questions from the chapter activity, my experience and senses in this beautiful field are profound and words are simply not going to be adequate to convey. My experience with this activity, is as an accumulation of many profound out-of-body experiences I've had before. What I refer to as Peace Woman (without going into an extensive explanation), is or has been, to date, one of my most completely profound nature-connected experiences---until the cumulative experience of now. Whole peaceful feeling and knowing of my authentic natural self, in this very place and moment without the intrusion of wranglers into my mind and thinking makes this my most complete and whole realization of who I am. It is a profoundly peaceful beauty, unlike I have ever felt or been aware of. I am completely assured, from this experience, that this is in and around me forever. I continue to look at these eight pine trees with needles glistening in sunlight, as if in a trance. What and whom do I thank but Nature, Project Nature Connect, all in this course, and its creators. If I could share my whole being with all of you, in each and every moment, it would be who I am right now." It is self-evident to me that Mike has communicated completely with nature in and around him to bring the wisdom and process of these activities to us. The way in which they are gradually presented, in process, is natural magic for me; only a person filled with NIAL and able to convey this into conscious reasoning and words could do this. I like gratification -- instant or otherwise. Just a few weeks ago while Spring was still poking her head out of the ground I visited some woods near my home. A small stream ran through the woods and I began to follow it. The first thing I noticed was the amazing number of different colored stones washed by the water. Then animal tracks -- mostly raccoon and possum I think. A dipper was managing to get a bath in one of the deeper areas of the stream. I guess I followed it for about 30 minutes before turning back. First, the gratification was probably instant but not consciously felt by myself. I say this because the actual walk and noticing the surroundings was quite meditative in quality. I wasn't trying to notice, I just was. Perhaps the dopamine levels in my brain were rising because I remember finding myself wandering about with a smile on my face. If you have done meditation, then you may have experienced that moment when you've suddenly noticed a lot of time has passed. That is what it was like for me. Turning around and leaving the stream behind was not easy. There's a bit of a letdown that takes place. I do know that I've had this drive to be connected for most of my life. To have it removed would be hellish because I've tasted it so clearly in my life. I lived in Tokyo for about five years back in the eighties and yet managed to make it to the mountains or sea each week. There is something that draws me to it no matter how much concrete might surround me. That's a powerful force that is able to break through so many distractions and hurdles of the modern urban world. And yet it does. As mentioned above, I like gratification. And knowing that my sense of love and connection with nature is something that is a real part of my humanity is gratifying. It's not something I have to manufacture or concoct or pretend. It exists. That's a powerful element because it means we can be genuine or, as the popular phrase has it today, our authentic selves. Recognizing that lifts the weight from my shoulders that says I need to be back at work rather than "wasting time" out there. If I read the work of others with this in mind, I can see their own spirits bubbling out of these pages. That's a lot of freedom shared among such a small group of people. In this authentic experience nature opens its arms and takes me in. I open my arms and take nature in. We are secure in the arms of each other. The authenticity of nature allows the authenticity in me to come forward. Act
now.
