Self-Evidence Works: How to Relate to Each Moment
as if Planet Earth is not Dead.
Undeniable and Certified Organic: The life of Planet Earth,
including humanity and its 54 senses, is an attractive, self-correcting "being" sometimes called Organism Earth, Gaia or Pachamamma. When we are in a natural area, our life improves the moment that any of our 54 natural senses register that we enjoy an
attraction there through the whole life art and
science of Educating, Counseling and Healing with Nature (ECHN). The improvement occurs because
that connection is the time and place that the life of Earth loves and
supports its life as us.

Self-Evidence Works: How to Relate to Each Moment
as if Planet Earth is not Dead.
Friday Harbor, WA. October 20, 2015: The Director of Project
NatureConnect, Dr. Michael J. Cohen, notes that, “Even though we may be
far apart in this instant, both you and I know the truth of this fact:
‘You are reading these words right now.’ That sentence is a
unifying and self-evident form of truth. It's a vital anchor that to
our loss, we are taught to overlook.” (14)
Cohen, a pioneering Applied Ecopsychologist (6)
, is convinced that the
widespread omission of self-evidence has produced today’s catastrophe
for the life of Earth (13)
It is a tragedy that leaders of objective science, technology and
education refuse to take responsibility for, even though they invented it and
Cohen says, “Applying self-evidence is critical
because it is indisputable.
we think, feel and build relationships with it, our mind, body and
spirit know the following critical facts are accurate.
1. Planet Earth is not dead.
The fact that we treat it as dead
results in its increasing deterioration.
. Our hidden prejudice against the life of our
Planet pays us to act from misleading stories that make us excessively
conquer, abuse and exploit Earth’s aliveness (1)
- We have bankrupted our Planet’s resource reservoir, polluted its life,
given it a fever and created runaway miseries (13).
3. We each inherit a 54-sense
loss of Earth's aliveness makes us want and when we want there is never

to unify relationships (10)
and resolve the disastrous personal and global conflicts that our “dead
Earth” thinking continues to produce (7)
4. We suffer from our disorders
stories seldom let
us think, feel and act like the undeniable moment-by-moment whole life
way that self-evidence works. (8)
5. It is reasonable for any individual
and relate based on the self-evident facts that:
A. Any and all things are held together by
natural attraction, “Held together” and “natural attraction” and “the
essence of love and life/survival” are identical.
B. Other than humanity, nothing else that is part of the life of our
planet has the ability to articulate or understand stories. “Organism
Earth” is non-literate.
C. We inherit 54 natural senses, 85 percent of whose intelligence and balanced
information our science and technology activities
ignore (12). Although sensation is
an obvious fact of life, it is “subjective” and therefore taboo to
scientific objectivity. It is sometimes recognized as phenomenological evidence.
D. We live in the aliveness of Earth, not on our planet. The
dance of our life is a part of and enveloped in the dance of Earth’s
life. The desire of Earth’s dance to survive is its and our greatest
motivating force (5).
E. The life of Earth organizes itself into an attractive
of self-correcting diversity, balance, cooperation and peace that does
not produce garbage. All things belong and transform into more
attractive relationships that support the Planet’s life. The fittest
are those things that are the strongest cooperators with other things.
F. Earth’s life dance is unified. Each attraction moment of it
is attached to what came before it and to what comes after it.
G. We have the ability to increase personal and global well-being
by reasonably enabling the life of our 54 natural senses to create
conscious connection moments in natural areas that let Earth teach. In them
our senses tap into Earth’s aliveness and it lovingly mentors them as
would any wise and caring mother. This enables our scientifically
untrue stories to interlace with their origins in Earth's life,
transform, and recycle into connections that support the life of our
Cohen insists that, “
The power of self-evidence enables any of us to
solve the unsolvable.
It immediately brings into play 54-sense, regenerative life energies of
Earth that we inherit but repress”. He has spent 50 years
exploring this phenomenon with people in natural areas and written ten
books on the subject that include potent nature-reconnecting activities
Through self-evidence alone,
in 1965 Cohen
discovered that far beyond reasonable doubt Planet Earth is a
Since then he has tried to get Earth protected under the Endangered
Species Act. “After all our planet is the only life of its kind
that we know,” he says. He believes the Act would legally force
us to act and this would reverse climate change as well as eliminate
miseries that our assaults on Earth’s life produce.
The culprit, says Cohen, is our nature-disconnected stories and
relationships. The are like a foreign body within us (11)
Too often they relate to the free and loving life support that we
obtain from our planet’s life as if it was either our enemy or a
“We’d be thrown in jail if we treated our pet
like we treat Organism Earth,”
Cohen. “The way we act is insensitive cruelty, a form of stupidity and
insanity that has given our planet a fever and plagued us with the
problems that our misled prejudice against nature have created.”
Earth overuse research shows that we now need
four more Planet Earth’s to hook up with the life of our planet in
order to remedy the increasing exploitation, illness and injustice that
our excessive separation from Nature produces in the USA (13)
This results from our 54-sense thinking and relationships being out of
tune with Earth’s integrity over 99 percent of the time, a circumstance
that can be easily corrected.
“There is a cure for this dilemma
but it is short
circuited,” says Cohen, “A readily available remedy for our madness
exists. It is the whole life art and science of Educating,
Counseling and Healing With Nature (ECHN) (3)
It works beautifully because it only works with self-evidence from our
54 natural senses while we are in direct contact with the integrity of
Earth’s life in a natural area, backyard or backcountry (4)
ECHN is an organic tool for recovery, a social technology that invites
us to use the life forms and energies of Earth’s paradise as higher
power when we need it "(9)
Very few people apply ECHN and they are mostly nature
This is because our Society seldom acknowledges that a tragic problem
exists. Our planet and ourselves are a single life and it is in
trouble because we learn to eviscerate it, in and around us, for profit
and power. We are in denial that ECHN reverses this epidemic
through 54-sense conscious contact with Earth’s healing abilities in a
natural areas. We also deny that the legitimate information and stories
that result from how ECHN nature-reconnecting experiences empower
scientific thinking to increase personal, social and environmental
ECHN gives any reasonable individual
to create learning moments in a natural area. That space is where the
authentic life of Earth gives us exactly what we need to sensibly come
into balance. Wonderfully, the side effects of ECHN strengthen, rather
than weaken, the life of Earth that our negligence deteriorates (13)
